Supporting objects for project management

1 min read

For core project management Arrow PSA includes the following set of objects that are core to Arrow PSA and supporting details for projects from project management best practices. Each of these objects have a set of fields that are pre-defined, but may be updated to support your organization and how you would like to track information related to projects and each object.

CORE PROJECT OBJECTS IN ARROW PSA

  • Project
The project object represents an undertaking for your organization that is planned to achieve a specific goal. The project is the core object for Arrow PSA, and almost all of the other information in the system is centered around the project.
  • Project Task
The project task object represents a single step in the multi-step process to complete a project. It is the details of that step, including — who is assigned to complete the step, the duration of the step and when the step is expected to start and end.
  • Project Resources
The project resource object defines the internal or external individuals, materials or capital that are required to complete a project. The project resources are displayed on a project as a visual representation of what is needed to get the work done.

SUPPORTING PROJECT ELEMENTS

  • Expenses
Expenses are reimbursable costs that are applied to the project by resources. These costs may be invoiced back to the client, or the expenses may be added for the purposes of tracking the full costs of execution of the project.
  • Deliverables
Deliverables represent the output of the project — both tangible and intangible. The deliverables define what must be produced while the project is executed and what must be delivered to the client when the project is completed.
  • Decisions
Decisions are the agreed upon changes in the project that impact scope, cost or timeline. The object installed with Arrow provides a log of decisions made during the project that can be referenced at a later time.
  • Assumptions
Assumptions are the factors that were considered to be true when planning the project. The object installed with Arrow provides a log of the assumptions that were made when planning the project, and changes to the assumptions may (or may not) impact the scope, cost or timeline of the project.
  • Risk/Issues
Arrow provides a method to track project risks and subsequently move the risk to an issue if the event occurs. The risk/issue object and functionality built into Arrow is based on project management best practices where a risk is identified and then becomes an issue.
  • Budget Item
Budget items are the individual transactions that generally increase the budget — i.e. Change Order, Additional SOW, Contract Change, Decisions, etc.
